Supervisor planning to quit before rank meeting

I refuse to participate in another rank meeting and will be quitting. I’m considering going to the meeting and then calling everyone out for participating in such a terrible process before walking out. Any advice?

Don’t burn bridges.
These people will not care and your drama will make 0% impact.

Just do it, everyone is trying to be the hero and blame you for leaving your people like you created the system😂 anyway on the long term everyone would be better off and lead a happier less toxic life leaving Exxon so fk this st

OP- don’t be a drama queen . Represent your staff and then after that exit gracefully. Don’t be a bi--h.

FLS input at the meeting doesn't matter much at the end of the day.

2mut+1 nailed this one. You can complain all you want…. But if the person that is supposed to rep you in the assessment bails right before hand…. You are at a distinctive disadvantage. OP - nothing you can do will change the process… stop being a p***y and prep properly and do your best in the session. You OWE it to your staff…. Little candy a$s

It is doubtful that any manager will quit after the ranking meeting unless they are a poor performer or retirement eligible. By definition, management is rated in the top 50% of the CL classification level because they have direct reports. Why walk out, when you are a CL28-29 in the top 50% with RSU stock options.

How about you actually represent your ppl first? Just walking out means that your ENTIRE TEAM will not be represented by the person who is supposed to know them the best. You basically leave them powerless. Way to go.

Since you are considering this route, though - I have high doubts you cared enough In the past to have put the time and effort in to accurately represent your team. Maybe they will be better off without you?

Do it. Record it.

Wear blue jeans, no socks, open toed shoes, and T-shirt with something thought provoking on it.

What should he put on the T-shirt?

The only reason anyone becomes a supervisor in this worthless org is for being spineless. None of what you describe is going to happen. Being a supervisor at EM means a black stamp forever. Nothing will change it.

How about stand up for your beliefs in there and don’t run from those people. Agree it’s an incredibly flawed system but damn…that’s spineless

Take your hidden microphone and tape the conversation in the rating and ranking session and post the recording on YouTube and Twitter after you resign. I am sure that it will be the most liked YouTube post by the end of the week.

After all rating and ranking meetings, the paper is shredded so that there is no record of what was said or agreed to in the meeting.

D-mbest idea ever. You are in there to help as many people survive that horrible system. Bailing on everyone defeats the purpose of your protest. Get the right people in the right positions, then resign after you’ve helped as many as you could.

Zero chances of this happening.
If you are a supervisor you were either:

1. selected to be a supervisor because you had no backbone,

or

2. even if you had an ounce of morality left after becoming supervisor, you would be forced to quickly let it go to keep the job.

OP:
I think you are a fraud. If you are a supervisor, ExxonMobil's system and culture would have ensured that you have no real morals left. The reason we believe it is because the. process of selection to be a supervisor would have selected morally corrupt liars to begin with and if somehow a decent human being had made it to the supervisory level, the sustain and persistent brainwashing would have ensured them to be mentally deranged in their beliefs in no time.

If somehow you do what you say, kudos to you for being one in a million. I will like you to have the guts to post your quitting ExxonMobil post on LinkedIn and instead of typical lies about a great company and great colleague BS --- you posting the way the culture is!

So your plan is to go into a meeting where probably all of them agree with you and tell them how d-mb our system is… they know I’ve been in tons of these sessions over the decades whether old or new “method” they all agree with you. Heck they talk about it before and sometimes during the session in some instances.

If you wanna have a big moment then try to figure out something else.

0% chance this happens, you didn’t get to be a supervisor by showing any sort of backbone

You’ll be preaching to the choir. You need to call or send an email to managers much higher than those in the room.

Yes, please go. State your mind and exact reasons and thoughts. Report back the comments and repercussions you get for not being a yes man, waiting for the boss to speak and then following.
