Thread regarding Pioneer Natural Resources Co. layoffs

Promise based management

My manager has made so many false promises that I don't even listen to him anymore. Why is he doing this? Does he really think that after so many broken promises, someone will still believe in them?

We should make a list of all the promises that managers have made and never fulfilled. The list would certainly be an interesting one, right?

If you’re not a chosen one you then you don’t matter, and if you don’t realize this then you’re really in trouble.

Welcome to pioneer - where dreams die and hard work is a punishable offense. We don’t like standout people because they make our “chosen ones” look bad.

PXD excels at dangling the carrot of hope to its employees.

One day you realize you’ve wasted your most productive professional years in a stagnant role for a company that does nothing but lie to its employees.

You tell yourself working at Pioneer looks good on your resume, but a lack of moving up the ladder doesn’t look good to other companies and you don’t get interviews.

You finally give up and enjoy the poke bowl. Meanwhile your family quietly resents you for not being successful. You tell them you’ll get promoted next year, your manager promised!
