Sedgwick - Heads Up!!

Word of caution to anyone who is new to or not familiar with Sedgwick. This is the vendor who handles Short Term Disability claims for the bank. I have no idea how much the bank pays this company but anything over $1 is too much. They are borderline incompetent. I have been working with them for just a few weeks and it has not been good. Obviously, there is paperwork needed from my doctor. Here are just a few examples of the madness. They have asked my doctor for the same documents multiple times, even though those items are uploaded to my queue in their portal. I have been given TWO different “primary contacts” calling me asking me the same questions over and again. Neither one seems to have any knowledge of the other one. I cannot reach these contacts by phone, only by writing into the portal. When I call in to ask a question, I get transferred repeatedly only to get different answers to simple questions. Managers are not available for phone calls. There are too many other things to list in this post. I have been with the bank 30 years and never had to file for leave of absence so I am kind of flying blind here. Maybe it is just me, but overall very poor experience so far. :( All I can say is good luck to anyone else and keep good records!

Godspeed! The incompetence and laziness is ASTOUNDING! I filed a complaint with Global HR and had them deal with some of my issues. It became a part time job while on leave due to their mistakes. Document every interaction and names and blast it in every message you put in the black hole portal.

They are completely incompetent and incredibly rude to speak to over the phone!

I actually just dealt with them for adoption leave. I did pretty well when I called them but their online portal needs a lot of work. It kept saying they would notify me of approvals but sent nothing. Hence all the calls. I had previous loa when they used Aetna. They weren't any better. I got shortchanged on pay because the system defaults to a 40hr workweek regardless of your work schedule.

I also had a bad experience with Sedgwick, as well as another 3rd party HR company the bank uses - Alight.

Sedgwick and Alight do not communicate well with each other, if at all.

Be prepared for all of your sick time / vacation time, and benefit amounts to be messed up when you return. Go over EVERYTHING in great detail within Workday, your payslip over the next several cycles, etc.

The entire experience caused nothing but additional stress during an already stressful time due to medical reasons.

Yet another reason I'm done with this place.

Keep a detailed written record of every interaction you have with them.

My experience with them is the same. Lowest bid awarded with no regard to performance.
