BNY can do nothing to you. I am getting a bonus so they can claw that back. But if you never received a bonus they can claw NOTHING back!! Also, they still have to offer you COBRA and pay you for all unused and earned vacation time.

C U Next Tuesday!
HR and employers are only allowed to say the time period you worked, not if you were a good or bad employee or if you gave notice. Giving notice is the equivalent of leaving a tip at a restaurant- optional.
The latter part of your rant will be way off the mark. If you have nothing good to say, don't say it. Also, you assume a bit too much.
Wouldn't want what Karma has in store for you.
Whoever this is the bank is lucky you are leaving as you seem to have your facts all upside down. You seem to be spending a great deal of time on something so simple. The firm does not give references, that ended decades ago. The most any firm is allowed to do is validate dates of employment.
What are do risk is your unprofessionalism following you. It's a small world, you never know where you will encounter someone you p-ssed off. Like, let's just say could be a decision maker on a future job.
Can't believe we even have to explain this.
Give the notice- my guess your manager will be doing cartwheels.
That’s why we get paid. Bonuses come with clawback. The conditions are very easy to follow.
Not getting paid for hours worked would generally be known as slavery. I believe it's still illegal.
OK. I want to see on Tuesday all the tough talkers resignations…. vvv. Wait I don’t think they do that anymore. You just disappear… whereabouts unknown
Give the notice on 4:55PM 2 weeks before your last day, then call sick for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday for the next two weeks. If your manager yells at you, tell labor department that BNY is abusing your healthy. BNY plays the game nasty, I will play the game nastier.
The bank does not give references or reveal anything about employees. In fact, they won't even confirm you worked for them, they leave that to a third party.
@1byg+1fu1Xh5Z.... Appreciate your response. As I understand it, should I give no notice I would:
- Give up my pitiful bonus.
- I would be paid for all hours worked between my last paycheck and last day worked.
- I would be paid for all earned vacation times not taken.
- Should I elect to, I would be eligible for COBRA.
- I do risk BNY informing any new employers seeking a reference that I left without giving notice.
@1mxp+1fu1Xh5Z: They will pay:
- any hours worked between the last paycheck received and your departure date, including overtime if applicable
- any balance of unused vacations (if you've taken more days off in 2022 than that, difference will be subtracted from the first bullet)
What will not be paid:
- personal days not yet accrued
COBRA doesn't cost the bank anything. And I sure am glad I don't have coworkers like you...
I could care less about my flea size bonus being forfeited if I gave no notice.
Does anyone know if they can withhold pay for hours worked or vacation time earned. From what I know they do have to extend COBRA, notice or no notice.
Anyone?
To quit without notice is not uncommon. I would still perform my responsibilities to the same ethical level I had always done. To do less is quite immature.
Do the right thing, give notice. Not for the benefit of the company but for yourself. Don't drop down to their level, you will look back and be glad you did.
Why quit without notice? If I were leaving, I might suggest that they let me go that day and if not, would do the bare minimum. It is no different from any other resignation. And don’t answer calls from the form once you have left. You might want to help your former coworkers, but in the end that is just helping the firm.
Read terms of employment. They can claw back if given no notice. Those who have not or ever gotten a bonus can quit without notice. Might not be a smart idea if you plan on finding alternate employment. I am not sure BNY can legally tell a prospective employer that one quit without notice.
I do know that have to pay you for all time worked, earned vacation days and offer COBRA if you quit without notice.
Isn't calendar year 2021 the performance period for any bonuses paid out on February 28, 2022? If an employee is currently active, how can BNYM claw back any portion of a 2021 bonus?
OK! THANK YOU!!!!!!!! 😉
