Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Workforce shrunk by 12 percent in 2021

Am I seeing this right? I was trying to find how many employees T had at the end of last year (most of the figures are still showing 230,000 from 2020) and the only place I could find indicates that the number has gone down to 203,000. That means that T lost 27,000 employees in 12 months, and I'm guessing most of it was not even through layoffs. How is that even possible?

Adjust workforce as needed. Got rid of unneeded workers. Stankey running the business.

BFS is under CS&O while IT is under IT operations. Two completely seperate entities.

Just speculating here, but it would make all the sense in the world to move all of IT to IBM since T already has a working relationship with them. I’ve seen many IT people already moved to IBM over the years, T employment ends on Friday, IBM employment starts on Monday...at least the impacted personnel still have a job! I wonder if BFS installers would be included in this if T was to make a move like this? We’re all just spitballing here...

V is now at 118k lost 10% in 2021
TM is at 75k - no change

25k at WM now

They will out source IT after the WM deal to get remaining 25k needed to get below 150k

Quarterly reports have employee counts as of the reporting date.

With so much M&A going on, it's tough to make heads or tails of those numbers. Of course, management prefers it that way.

Yes, in T Mobile’s 5G world...T isn’t quite fully there just yet!

The march toward 150k employees will be a multi-factor process- attrition, layoffs, not hiring, automation, product reduction. Once we automate and reduce the number of products we sell, the rest will take of itself.
Between now thru 2025, expect continued products to have a sunset date.

Total employee count can very easily be found online internally. 2022 unfortunately will be a watershed exit for many more employees without warning.

To get a truer picture, we would need to know how many contractors are working for AT&T. Those figures aren't in the earning reports.

What is the target date for this reduction to 150k employees? Will it occur organically or will T declare more surpluses over the years? Just wondering how much time we have before shif hits the fan! I believe that goal is not realistic since T offers more services than its competitors and needs more personnel!

sounds about right will all the assets that were sold off in 2021. Getting close to the goal of 150K.
