Frank playing favorites?

I'm a manager and was preparing to hold my employee compensation meetings last week when I got a last-minute email out of the blue stating that a few of my employees were selected for special RSU benefits. I cannot for the life of me figure out why certain individuals were given RSUs and others not. Everyone on my team consistently gets high marks and I wouldn't say that the selected individuals are somehow better than the others. Does anyone have additional information on this?

The RSU's are a joke. They are meant to appease you so you will stay. When they lay you off you will realize what a big fat insult that is.

RSU = Restricted Stock Units and are communicated as “equity grants”. For Directors and above it’s typical OFD process to give half of their bonus in cash and half in RSU. Which is a scam because those RSUs are on a vesting schedule. Meaning unless you stick around for 3 more he-l filled years with this titanic company, you’ll never see a dime of that money. So basically they’re screwing their leaders out of half their bonus.

what grade are they? there was a recent change that everyone was informed about, that only 12s and higher will receive RSUs. everyone else will got cash.

They may not be better employees, but they may have specific business knowledge. It's likely related to retention, but I don't know if it's in preparation of something big.

In many of those cases, even the manager isn't privy to the offer. The higher-ups contact the employees personally and confidentiality is demanded.

Laying the ground work to retain certain team members in anticipation of a sudden change. Maybe they are going to implement a policy to drive away employees and are picking which ones they want to stay. Or they are removing the manager and want to preserve key members of the team.

What is the similarities of the people who got the RSUs? Are they working on the same project or seniors or is it totally random?
