Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

“No one wants to work” is not true

I don't know how and when it happened, but I have a feeling that most companies suddenly take the position that "no one wants to work" anymore. Does it seem to you too? We want to work, but we don't want to work in companies where we are not treated as human beings. Instead of this notorious nonsense that “no one wants to work,” maybe they should finally provide a better workplace.

It has been an employer's market for so long that employers have forgotten how to recruit or retain employees. We have an entire generation of recruiters who never learned the "old ways" of recruiting employees.

Agree. It's become an excuse companies are using. Treat your workers with respect including respectful pay at all levels and you might have some employees. Give them the loyalty that you expect.

Most of us just want to feel as though we're accomplishing something, learning new skills, and being a person on whom others can depend. Don't interpret that last bit as some sort of savior complex. It's just nice to be thought of as trustworthy/dependable. Of course, none of that means "Feel free to treat me like a doormat." Only you can determine if that line has been crossed. If you feel it has, find an opportunity that allows you to accomplish the former while avoiding the latter.
