Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Low pay raise

Perhaps I would've gotten a bigger raise if I hadn't put in any effort at all. Nevermind, now I'm just wondering if low pay raise is a red flag that I can lose my job soon? I will appreciate your opinions.

The problem is Stankey f'd up the companies financials with a string of strategic acquisitions that totally failed. Royal F up!

The below midpoint, end of year rating, and organization doing “well” myths have been debunked. I received a <3% raise while achieving all goals and being at the bottom of the totem pole on the pay scale.

Last year I personally implemented new systems across the district. This year I will scale back and work on personal development a bit more.

I quit AT&T Sep 2021. Am I eligible to receive pro-rated annual bonus?

No, a low pay raise doesn't mean you've been doing a bad job. Pay raises usually have very little to do with your yearend ratings or any awards given. If the organization did well, the raises may be good. Then, it all depends on how the funds are disbursed among the districts, groups, and finally trickled down to the employees. If you are below the midpoint, you may get a higher raise than someone meeting or above it.

If you are from any acquired company that they have since dumped again (DTV, etc.), you were already low on the pay scale since they didn't feel experience with a successful company merited consideration at the Death Star. So, don't worry about consistent high ratings, doing the actual job with any kind of competency, or expect to be "developed" for any promotion because it's all smoke and mirrors. The inequity in pay is not based on race or gender. It's based on T's incompetency and intentional underpayment of quality employees because they don't care as long as they can virtue-signal to the masses about their DEI and care for the environment. (insert huge eyeroll here) If there is a surplus, it doesn't matter what your ratings are. Management gets to decide who is on the list. They'll recommend you and keep their sycophant minions every time, and there's nothing you can do about it.

The pay raise wasn't the issue. It was they paid MERIT raises from the OLD pay bands, so really, your raise was even smaller.

I got 4.5% raise and very nice bonus. Honestly best I ever remember. I only got IPI one time so i don't miss it (or the phantom connection awards). I am happy as a clam. Thinking of buying a new Toyota Tundra to replace old Ford truck.

Yes, watch your back. Low raise is indicative of poor performance. Your manager will be forced to put you on a performance improvement plan. It's the T (underhanded) way to reduce employee headcount.

I retired late in 2021 and had direct deposit. My bonus was direct deposited to my account this morning.

A low raise means nothing about how well you performed. We got notice that our job title was actually underpaid to whatever competition they claim they use. The result is that everyone got a raise only to push them to the very bottom of the midpoint band--no matter how hard you did or did no work or no matter how much you know or don't know.

Because they don't have many benefits left to get rid of, they now just give low raises to pay for the executive ineptitude.

Low raise (1 or 2%) means you are already overpaid, or got a very low rating. If you got 3 or 4 percent and think that’s low, you haven’t been around very long. Anything over 3% is good, sad to say.

Would you rather have had a better raise and smaller bonus?

Nope, the Delta between low raise and perceived high raise is miniscule. ATT sadly thinks you owe them and only funds a tiny amount. 25+ years of doing this and saw change when SBC acquired ATT.

No, low raises are standard for AT&T. No indication of coming layoff.

nah pay is not any indication of you getting layoffs.

working at att is indication you will get laid off.
