Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I'll take hybrid over full 5 days in the office. My daily commute is about 2.5 hrs so now I only waste 7.5 hrs a week. I probably can get as much done the 2 days working from home as I do when in the office for 3 days. Everybody wants to stop by your desk to chat and teammates around want to talk. I guess the social interaction is healthy but going in to an office isn't too efficient. I'm hoping they allow more flexibility over time and maybe only require 1-2 days in the office.

Or look at it another way, they'll just force everyone back 5 days a week. Then no hybrid problens

RTO has been AMAZING for me and my department. Everyone in the building is so friendly and collaboration is better than it has even been. Everyone is talking about how much more productive they are in the office without all the distractions of working remote. Great things are sure to come from our return to office. Please bring on full time RTO!!!!

Yeah, that's not working for me. You want me to come into the office, let me know when you have MY permanent desk ready for me.

Today was busier than the past few weeks. Unfortunately, just a bunch of people not talking with each other. Collaboration is probably 10 percent.

The genie is out of the bottle. Anyone who could do 80%+ of their job remotely isn't going to want a job that requires being in an office. Executive "leadership" can either lead or be late to the party.

Yes, we get it. Charlie wants to get rid of people, but he's going to lose a lot more than the number he wants to lose. People have options, remote is going to be the way to attract talent.

I had hybrid pre-Covid and it was great. What made it great was it was the same days every week so I could plan meetings with people I knew were on my same schedule. I had an assigned desk people knew where to find me at so they could walk up to me when they knew I was in. I knew all the people in my area, and my floor from break room and passing one another. Highly productive, very predictable.

Now, after RTO no one has an assigned desk - just a neighborhood. I never know what desk I’ll be at or where the people I need are - or if we even share an “in office” day. Also, knowing the folks around you builds trust. You get to know them, hear about their lives - trust they will stay home if they’re sick or have someone in the lot household get sick.

Now, everyone is just going to “check a box” and stay off a report. They don’t care where they sit, who’s around or getting to know people who may or may not be involved with anything they do.

RTO could have been like pre-Covid and highly productive but the obsession with having EVERYONE show up in random buildings to sit in random seats on random days just made it a “stay off a report” and off the radar activity.

Part of that is due to COVID. Most people around me are not masked so I try to have at little contact with people as possible, because I've got 3 young kids at home and they can't be vaccinated yet. with what appears to be another wave beginning to crash down, I'm not taking any chances.

Done j@ckazz at the top probably will get a bonus for thinking of/implementing this bad idea.

Hybrid is just unnecessary chaos. Who wants to wonder where they are working every day? Who wants to pack up and move equipment around every day? It’s just nonsense.
