If you're lucky to have a good manager and coworkers (God forbid I say team members) RTO is not going to be as much of an issue for you. You might even enjoy the change of pace. I and many others have horrible, micromanaging bosses who couldn't wait to have us directly under their thumb once again. That ki--s productivity and morale. We are also surrounded by people who are unfriendly at best and openly antagonistic at worst, which doesn't help at all. I'm not going to claim that everybody who says they're enjoying RTO is lying, but let's face it, they're the minority.

I have a job to do. I'm good at it, and I get it done.
That's it.
Nobody I work with is even in the same state as me. Even if they were, they would be an unwelcome distraction to getting the job done. I don't want to "socialize" with them.
A long and time-wasting commute. Office chatterboxes. Id--t managers. All conspire to prevent the job from getting done.

The big consulting shops are no doubt overjoyed with RTO. Now they can get back to selling industry-leading, best-practices snake oil over working lunches in the conference rooms, while fleecing us with billable hours for the pleasure.

Yep. the control freaks, the micro-managers, the social butterflies, and the married folks with side pieces are all extremely happy to be back in the office.
The only ones I have seen that are happy to be back are the schmoozers and bu-t ki$sers who know how easy it is to get out of work in the office. There's one on our team who made a big deal about how nice it is to be back and has banners and trinkets all over her desk. Yet she maybe does an hour or two of work each day. The rest of that time is spent talking, walking around, trying to plan lunches for her and her friends, and making personal phone calls all day long. But she wags her tail for management and they eat it up.
It really depends on the person and who from their group they are RTOing with. I have seen people at the office that seem happy to be able to interact in person with their peers. No one from my group at my location, but personally I'm glad about that. Not that I don't like them, it's just less distractions from actual work I need to get done. The less I drone on about the weather or the local sportsball team, the more productive I'll be.
