Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Q1 earnings…

Ford booked the valuation of the investment in Rivian at $103.69 per share as of 12/31/21 for a total of $14.733 BILLION. Rivian was worth only $50.24/share on 3/31/22, so in Q1 financials we need to write down over $7 BILLION. This is going to hurt.

For the last time, no one is buying data from Ford. Google and Apple already have it all. Anyone that thinks the data Ford is collecting is valuable to anyone outside of Ford is delusional.

@3zuh
Let’s deal with facts. 2021 revenue:
Automotive (Blue) $126,150,000,000
Credit (Blue) $10,073,000,000
Mobility (E) $18,000,000

Let us know when the E team’s annual revenue exceeds the Blue Team’s (Automotive + Credit) $136,223,000,000. E team only needs $136,205,000,000 of recognizable revenue, and of course you understand that subscription anything isn’t recognized up front, but over the life of the subscription.

It’s a 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 show!

GO BLUE!!!

@3zuh... I believe you missed that I was using italics to indicate I was being sarcastic. There's no frogging way in the world that the Blue Oval is going to successfully pivot into a software or data company. Believing that is the path out of last 20+ years of decline is utterly delusional.

What data is being sold and who is buying it?

@3zuh
We can’t produce vehicles that function as designed and advertised, what makes you think we will be any more proficient at creating data and/or connected data that is worth anything to anyone?

Re: previous comment, not just software. Data and connected data are actually the bigger revenue generators for the company going forward.

"Oh, but that's OK since we're going to be a software company."

Not looking good for any of us, that's for certain. Hard to see this company still around in 3-5 years if this continues.

The company is in deep trouble as we head into a recession. We still are a one trick pony that is the F150. JF & BF are not the right people to lead the company. Billy will destroy this company. JF who is so full of himself and a legend in his own mind is totally clueless.
He is not a car guy despite what he proclaims.

And Ford is just one of many companies that are going to be reporting on large "head winds" encountered during Q1. It sure looks like a house of cards is falling over right now and this valuation change is just one card of many.
