$2MM net worth at 35. Married engineer with two kids and stay at home wife.

I donate 15% of my gross income annually to my church and charities, am single income, and have a large family. When I was young I decided to donate a fixed percentage rather than a dollar amount. As my income has grown I’ve been able to donate more in absolute terms while keeping percentage same or growing. I’ve been blessed with increasing earnings over time although not always keeping up with inflation. I have plenty saved as well. Use your wealth to help others and blessings will flow back to you.

I am married and single income with a large family and saved $1M by my early 30’s. Closer to $4M now ten years later. Compounding returns are a real thing. Start saving early.

Well, the answer to this question depends on a lot of things. How is your lifestyle? Do you spend a lot? Or, are you frugal? Are you married or single? Do you have children or not? Do you have health conditions? Or, are you healthy? If have a partner/spouse, does the spouse work? Do you have a mortgage? Student loans? Car loans? See? It really depends on a lot of things. Now, this is my personal take based on what I have seen.

You are screwed if

1. You are a wrench-turner making 50K to 70K. You probably have nothing saved because you make close to nothing.
2. You are a single-earner family with kids. Raising kids has become practically impossible in the USA. Everything is unbelievable expensive. Childcare is an example.
3. You are single and spend like there is no tomorrow. You have the latest iPhone. The latest Mac. You drive a very expensive car. And rent a fantastic apartment in downtown Houston where you pay 3K or more in rent per month. You get my point.

You probably have around $200K if

1. You are a dual-earner family with kids where you and your spouse make more than 100K each.
2. You are single and have a frugal lifestyle.

You probably have 400K or more if

1. You are a dual-earner family without kids and have a frugal lifestyle.
2. You are the grandmaster of investments and you know when to buy and sell stocks.

You probably have 400 millions or more

1. If you are Darren Woods and sc--w your employees.

When XOM dropped to $33 we reallocated and went all in. It was stupid but paid off. Thought there was no chance this wasn’t bouncing back.

I am a leader as per my own claims. I claim to innovate and motivate but all I do is to lie and shoot dirt and poison and stab everyone behind their backs. I am a true example of lowly ExxonMobil management.

None. Ho----s and blow don't leave much room for saving.
