Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

You are irreplaceable

What is Wells Fargo thinking? do they honestly believe they will be able to continue without their star performers? You should leave now just to show them that pulling back wfh was a bridge too far. I give it six months after you leave before they shut down.

+ Leave before you have to train your replacement.

This is what will happen. CS and WF will continue to move jobs offshore. I would not be surprised if most of the back office work will end up in India or the Philippines. Like close to 65 - 80%. Your job will be eliminated. You can either let CS and WF decide the timeline, or you can control your future and move now. It's up to you.

On my team, most of the people who actually did any work have left, en masse, over the past two weeks. My boss's hair is almost literally on fire. There's 3 of us left who actually do anything (plus another who is ridiculously not being allowed to work) and management is rapidly seeing that the other 6 team members never actually did anything. And 2 of us are about to head out the door. Leaving that last poor guy here, all by himself. But he's just a meeting bi--h for my boss, so he doesn't have to get bitched at by the business for all the issues we have and cant fix, because over half the team doesn't fu----g do anything, while they keep hiring offshore fu----s who can't even create a branch in git without fu----g things up.

I brought this up to my manager yeaterday. He is from Chase, as are two levels above. He was nasty, said everyone in finance and insurance wants to be in the office, and that this is the time to get rid of everyone else.

Unless we can stop the influx of JPMC, we are going to have to leave.

@phb if they've spent 6 years paying me to avoid 1 year of severance, they're a way worse "leadership" team than you give them credit for.

The gradually falling apart comment is ridicuously accurate.

@vlp+1g3L4PIm if you get over a year with WARN, that means you've been at Wells for over 20 years. You are the exact reason why Wells is failing. You're not irreplaceable. You're the effin' stump they've been trying to uproot for the last six years.

@OP obviously got ticked off by my post since they used my wording.

Yeah, they're going to have a problem when I'm gone. I'd give you more details, but it could identify me.

I never said I was irreplaceable. I was alluding to the fact that when they get do rid of me (I know it's coming, estimate 2-5 years), unless their automation is up to snuff - and it certainly isn't at the moment - then they are going to feel some pain.

I won't care either way. I'll get over a year of severance including the WARN period. Laying me off would be the best gift WF could give me since I'd have enough time between severance and unemployment that I could finish up a new degree and shift careers by the time UE runs out.

Did I mention I'm on track to have at least 3 different sources of income by the time that happens? For the moment WF needs me, badly.

Look, I think we all realize we are replaceable but after this exodus the few things that do work are going to start gradually falling apart. Yes we are “too big too fail” but they will just wind up in more trouble with the regulators after they have lost a sizeable number of the people who actually keep this place running.
