Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

1 in 5 will be Needs Improvement

Wow. NSI reduced from 8% to 5% is just a smokescreen. 20% will still need to be needs improvement.

@2aze+1g4yXLyk that is because of you are bottom ranked your salary will stagnate. You won’t be fired but offers from competitors will become attractive financially assuming you can get an offer. There are some who can’t get a better offer from competitors and just spend years ranked low and complain on this site about it. Leave if you can’t succeed in the ranking system and go somewhere else where you can. It is the system that is used at ExxonMobil and complaining about it on this site won’t change a thing.

Had PDS discussion with supervisor last Friday. She mentioned that passing rate for PIP is really high so we should not worry to take PIP. But my observation is those who passed PIP will not stay longer in the company. They will leave as soon as they secured another job offer. So why bother about PIP passing rate

5 of 5 Executives NSI.

No PIP for the Executive that campaigned to sell all interest in Guyana prior to first well.

No PIP for all the Executives that proposed spending all those Billion$ in Brazil.

No PIP for the Executives that endorsed employee hiring binge in 2018 and 2019 after previous Lesson Learned was to hire contract staff for peaks.

Seems a system that protects Executives that make Billion dollar mistakes repeatedly.

DW et al NSI.

Seeing as we've lost so many people, how come 20% of those remaining are still cr-p?

No more sympathy for NSI employees at this point. You’ve witnessed a layoff and numerous unfair PDS cycles. Have a backup plan and be prepared to move on. If you think you’re in the bottom 25% and need a continuous stream of income I’d consider you to start interviewing. Loyalty will not go unpunished.

The best a supervisor can do is have you pass the PIP. They don’t have the option of t not putting 5% on NSI.

This year supervisors must end the career of 5% in NSI and 20% in NI. Supervisors must meet distribution. They can’t put everyone in Outstanding. The system forces careers to be ended.

@jyv+1g4yXLyk nailed it - one supervisor can make or break your career, unfortunately more will break you than make you. That’s the biggest cultural/systemic issue at this company, and it still is.

What a toxic work environment.
One supervisor can end your career.
By reading this site for the past 2 years, and talking to previous friends/coworkers, it was and is a sh*t show.
My PIP ended my career of 40.5 years service. 1 year shy of reaching the full pension age.

Good luck to everyone.
