The irony is, the share buybacks happen when the share prices are at the peak and company is making big profits, not when when the share prices are low and it would make sense to buy shares on the cheap like during the covid downturn. They could have purchased a lot more shares for a lot less or probably paid back some of the debt.

Care? None!

Which of the HR doofus came up with this one? Care is nowhere in XOMs DNA.

Resilience: throw away all excess profits in share buybacks that actually reduce the value of the company because stock price unaffected.

Resilience: Never put any excess profits into a $20+ Billion savings account to weather next downturn without a layoff of loyal employees.

Humility - challenge your employees to leave, call them hotshots if they dare.

Courage of conviction - say yes to your boss

Teamwork: Rat out your colleagues to curry favor like they did in Germany in the 1930s, or during the Cultural Revolution.

Courage of Conviction: Wait for your boss to tell you what opinion you should have.
