This is how it is done in the industry. The day of working at a job cradle to grave is pretty much gone. College new hires and center hires are mainly 5 digit - as they should be. Remember $97k is 5 digits and probably 30k more than most should be making (new in career is $65k). The centers and al of the h1b/offshoring is what effectively ki---d services. customers would pay more for competent help. Cisco can't manage to do that consistently. That whole exercise has diluted the value of CX to the point that it's even less skilled than what most incompetent customers have on staff. Why pay more for the same level of nothingness? It's a shame because there was a day when cisco services (pre center) came in, you know you had the top on the job. Now, it's a question of whether things will get done, will it get done correctly, and do you have to understand bengali to have any kind of mission critical design discussions. The day of the overpaid engineer is ending. It will just take a 2 year recession to resync and diaper man is going to put that into play.

"For years many companies have been offering six digits to new hires and five to experienced hires."

  • six digits to new hires
  • five digits to people they want to leave
  • seven digits to leaders
  • eight digits to executives

Same old , same old. If you want to get a raise at Cisco, go external, get rehired. This is especially true in CX if you are working in technical roles. Apparently all non delivery roles are 'rare talent' the delivery people , well just some technical folks...

For years many companies have been offering six digits to new hires and five to experienced hires. From a memo a friend received at another dinosaur “hiring people with ‘experience’ is the old way of doing things and will not be tolerated.” Engineers in the US typically graduate around 22 and the stated desired average age here was 25. Add five years if your posts don’t have complete sentences then solve for X.

Only way to get a real raise is to leave cisco. Cisco places ZERO value in existing talent. All are completely disposable.

Switch companies if you want a raise. It's not rocket science.
