Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Employee productivity

I can’t make any claims about IBM in general, but my team’s motivation and productivity is declining. Nobody cares anymore, everyone knows they can find a better job somewhere else. But interestingly, the manager is trying to improve our productivity by fear tactics.

Leading with vision, making sure everyone understands the "why", recognizing great work, setting clear goals, etc. - he obviously doesn't understand how important that is. I really don’t know a single person whose productivity has been improved by fear?

Best advice is to get out of ibm.
These managers are almost all boomers or those who couldn't get a job elsewhere.
They have a book of excuses when they have to do any work whether it's just increasing pay or some mundane work an intern could do in couple hours.

Ibm isn't growing so they can't promote experienced engineers. Also they're seizing to be an engineering company that makes great products.

In Expert Labs in the US, productivity has fallen to nothing, there is no real work. Management is clueless and the time of reckoning is near. Currently, interviewing for a few jobs. I will leave when I found something.
