Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

How many years at a band level…

Poll: “Successful” Nike employees up-level into the next band every __ years? And if you haven’t been up-banded in __ years, you should probably look for a job outside of Nike.
(Exclude those that are comfortable staying in one band forever)

There isn’t enough nuance in the L and U bands for this question to make any sense.

It’s very simple. You know whether your work is good or not, you know what your value is compared to others, and you also know when & how other people are being promoted. If you have genuinely deserved a bump into the next pay band and that bump isn’t coming, you leave.

Any questions?

Up to E band there is a remote chance it is based on merit en skill. Once passed E band it is all about your networking en sucking up abilities. Skill or leadership qualities are not important anymore from that point.

some people stay in the same band for over a decade, usually people who are 30s-40s who work overseas. some don't complain or aspire to be more because they don't have it in them or are happy with a steady paycheck. some people increase a band every year or two, i've seen one guy go from L to S in 5 years. it depends on how incompetent your manager is. obviously if you are female or if your skin is of a particular color you get bumped up fast to meet quotas
