Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Fair Compensation?

I've always wondered if I'm being compensated fairly relative to industry and/or peers.

He got a 50% pay raise because he didn't give you any while the company made lots of money. If he needed to give you a raise, that would indicate he is not a high achiever at his job and needs to be fired.
Out interests are not aligned. DWs job is to reduce pay, reduce head count while making more money or at least keep the profits constant. Capitalism 101!

Commercial family, eh?
Well, commerce has replaced engineering and science in the company, so you are sitting about right.

  1. 5 YOE. That's always a risk.
  • Don't eat the last slice of pizza or bagel.
  • Listen intently to your supervisor's personal stories, with an eyebrow raised.

If they are into gardening and also have a parent/child with serious medical issues, talk about that gardening every time they deign to speak with you.

  • Maybe you are in the stock Buy-Back side of commerce, or even the Lobbying side. always remember this: Your are the Life-Blut of the enterprise!

Seems like the starting salaries have stayed flat or declined slightly, but definitely haven't kept pace with inflation. For reference, I joined downstream in 2017 with a BS ME degree and started at $104k.
