Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Do Exxon employees whine more?

Seriously. I look through all the latest posts on the layoff and for oil and gas it seems Exxon employees whine more than any other. It’s incredible.

Yes they do, they are the best and brightest whiners anywhere in the world. Next question….

@oeu Sorry, but none of that actually happens anywhere anymore.

The truth is, in the entire industry, leadership is done with investing in or rewarding the employees. Been that way for some time. Managed decline and perpetual restructuring are the new normal.

If you have so much to whine about. And if the grass is greener, I’m quite sure nobody will lock to the door and ask you not to leave.

Go and explore!

I never knew but it must be inevitable:
There are people who get all their knowledge from the Layoff board.

Must admit, the ads are not intrusive and cookies are innocuous :-?

Maybe managers at our competitors actually read Dilbert and learn from it rather than emulate it.

Maybe we have more to whine about? Maybe the grass is truly greener on the other side? Maybe our competitors actually promote people who understand their businesses and can make tough decisions based on actual data rather than only worrying about self preservation.

dont think the person was referring to 500+ being a status symbol (who buys a house for status symbol?)

But rather get outside into real world and 500+ for a house is a lot of money for a lot of people. But again, my campus has long grass…

Dunno. Where we live it’s a 100 yard walk to two or three breweries, really excellent couple of food joints, winery, distillery.

Our detached albeit town home is <500 but it’s also not THE woodlands. Now if we had an actual house then we would be up around 700 for entry which for Houston, pluh-ease…it’s Houston.

@OP The entire industry is full of chronic whiners, from the C-suite to the field workers.

There is a massive sense of entitlement in O&G due to the fact that people in the industry have always made a lot of money relative to the amount of work they actually perform. This leaves a lot of time and space to complain. The solution is to keep people occupied and engaged.

since when is "500k+" home a status symbol? Isn't that entry price for areas that suck?

Because EM brainwashed it's employee more than any other oil major. And when the empire falls apart, you get more whiners.

Scroll through the latest posts and for oil and gas / energy it’s basically all Exxon.

Must suck driving the brand new f150s, tahoe, bmw etc and wearing all those fancy $100+ shirts and driving home to those $500k+ homes with $150k+ cars parked on the driveways because the garages are full of cr-p like golf clubs and golf buggy’s etc.
