Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What does all this look like to new hires?

I am a long-time employee and over the years I have seen and experienced a lot here but now I can't find an exit fast enough. It's sad, because I used to think EM was my dream job.
I am curious how the new hires see the situation when they first come here?

Did the CSR guy get transferred to the Beaumont O&A plant?

I don't know if the stars ever shone bright in EM, but my past 3 years employed have indeed been din.
I don't at this point know what organization or management I've been serving or who even to toady to. I do rote-work assignments and attend meetings.
And I suspect, in my field, having this Company on my resume will not be a positive.
It will probably be a negative.

Fact is, though, I'm young, I'm currently cheap (even for US), I'm fairly productive and I'm possibly overeducated (as some say).
So no Pip for me.

Like most of us we came to XOM with stars in our eyes but here at the O&A Chemical plant in Beaumont it doesn’t take long for the stars to burn out. The good job and excitement is quickly replaced with loads of overtime and no family time and this doesn’t sit well with people these days. They soon find out that all the schooling and work experience means nothing to management here. How dare you think you know better than THEY AND THEM. I have seen them come then go and to management that means nothing there’s no problem here. It wouldn’t take much to change the culture the right people just have to want to do it.
