Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Which departments are understaffed right now?

I have a few projects that need support from other areas and it keeps getting delayed because people are quitting at a fast pace. I started with a team of 5 in March now it's just me. I was told this morning I'm on my own indefinitely. Is attrition impacting your work?

Everyone is understaffed because we are working on offshoring positions. I was curious about the openings that would continue my career path and well positions are open…so long as I’m in India.

SO many teams have lost 20-50% of tech resources over the past 3-4 years and those spots have been moved to 'compliance' and other POS teams that don't do any work, just bother the remaining staff to do their work for them.

We’ve had seven engineers leave this year, yet we are still somehow supposed to roll out a brand new platform and migrate all users to it by year end with the two we have left. The kicker? A pet project for CS taking up those resources… and he will be the only person to benefit from it in the company. It’s complete chaos.

Yes, but a larger problem is having Eng Managers fill in for roles they have 0 idea on how to do.

Executive leadership. It's the only place I ever hear of new hires.

My tech team was 300 strong about 5 years ago. Now we're about half that. Some moved to transformation, some left and we never replaced, others replaced in India. We've been on life-support for a good year now. Not much gets done, at least compared to 3-4 years ago. I know Hagerman wants to hire 2500 tech people in 2022 alone but I swear we're losing more than hiring or at least no one is being hired in my general sphere.

Understaffed, working too much OT, projects added last minute to scope and no time to train off shore staff or learn automation. No end in sight as management is living in their happy place.

With everyone focused on defending oil companies in the other thread the floors are going unmopped

I don’t know why marketing is exempt, but we keep on hiring while people sit around trying to figure out what to put on their time sheets.

100% I told my ever shrinking team that for every request you get not already planned respond with what’s in front of the request and ask what can be delayed to respond to the new request.

Normally I would escalate to my manager but we’ve been reorged for the 3rd time in 7 months and our manager quit after the one two weeks ago. The new sr mgmt in this area has no idea who we are or what we do - only knows our output is widely used - so we get no responses from meetings, emails, Skype IMs, Teams IMs.

Based on current conditions I expect more attrition - like the rest of tech - and I’m working on being next to go!
