Was asked to apply for another position within the company. Hiring manager said in so many words it's mine if I want it. Applied over a month ago, interviewed with only the recruiter so far. Recruiter left last week, lol.
Cuts to contractors and SOWs will happen soon as tech budgets now have issues. Not sure how we can get to May and not have budgets and head counts in good standing. Hope FTEs are not next. S-cks to be WF.
Expect hiring freeze in tech with some few exceptions.
We are only allowed to hire useless contractors, no staff despite losing a third of our team the last year.
In tech any backfill not going abroad needs to be approved by SVB. Not sure about net new roles but it would stand to reason same for them.
Everything suddenly spend it in terms of the normally slow process for us - 2 weeks for LOB approval vs 7
People leaving way faster than backfills can be hired.
Not wells fargo but stripe, tells a story tho. A trusted insider who’s a hiring manager has told me stripe froze hiring for a few orgs. Unconfirmed for other orgs, but likely all orgs to follow. (Rumored to be a company wide freeze) Don’t shoot the messenger.
