Elon Musk Praises Technical Managers - IBM has few left! Now wonder it can’t compete…

Elon Musk - “I strongly believe that all managers in a technical area must be technically excellent.

Managers in software must write great software or it’s like being a Calvary captain who can’t ride a horse.”

People managers or non technical so called product managers at IBM are gds and get all the incentives where the developers get nothing. No wonder iBm can’t compete …

Mainframe is the last fig-leaf of IBM, since there is no other unique technology in market for IBM.
We launched a new project with MS Azure instead of IBM Cloud, bye for IBM technology, which given up since Ginni time.

It is true as Elon Musk said.

And what Technical Qualifications does Mr. Musk have himself. Electric motors, spacecraft engines, brain sensors, tunneling mechanisms? Well none of that.

Why do people fawn over every word he says?

IBM is suffering from what almost every big company falls into. An asleep at the wheel board who doesn’t demand anything but Mediocre management at best. Gerstner knew exactly what he had to do when he came on board (NO not trim excess employees which he did), but rather 1/2 the management ranks as they had gotten complacent. Guess what it worked as management had to step up their game and actually manage projects. AK has had 2+ years to reform IBM which includes replacing a complacent “do nothing board”. The window to turn IBM around has closed and AK and the current management has fallen back into the complacent style of legacy management. Until someone can break that complacency (most likely an outsider) do not expect much change as “complacent management” just tinkers around the edges and tries the same thing over and over again. Adieu innovation adieu Cash flow and steady as she goes has won out. Don’t believe me? Ask yourself what innovations is IBM delivering that customers can’t live without? What “new” ideas is the current management team driving that customers can’t foresee? Finally what innovation is the current board demanding out of the current management team? Yep the crickets are chirping. It all starts with the board, and IBM’s board is asleep at the wheel and demanding financial performance vs innovation performance

Problem is IBM upper management still wants the cavalry on horseback while the rest of the industry went to cavalry helicopters.
