Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I work in HR and am leaving for Apple RTP

Tomorrow is going to be a bittersweet moment for me as I'm giving my two weeks notice. I've been at Cisco 5 years having worked myself up to a G8 starting as a intern in college. I work in HR and have always known about this site due to my department but have never came here until today.

I'm not a technical engineer. I help develop tools the company uses to determine how much real estate they need.

I'm based out of RTP. Knowing Apple is coming I applied to their company to work out of the new RTP office, got contacted for a job, went thru the interview process, and accepted one this past week. I'm starting at 38k more base than I am at at Cisco and 55k sign on bonus in stock. Get to work remote for the time being.

The person who said you get a free iPhone and iPad every year is lying about that.

I don't feel guilty about looking to leave Cisco sooner but with Apple and Google coming to RTP I felt obligated to apply to both to see what happens and it just so happened Apple was interested. Can't undercut myself.

Don't want to see anyone get undercut.

Enjoy the mandatory 3-day RTO, you thought Cisco was Big Brother, Apple is worse

Didn't you read the news? Apple backed down from that after the head of machine learning left.

since this is an anonymous site, we have to screenshot our posts before hitting the submit button as proof of our work. hahaha

Since when does anyone have to show proof of work at Cisco?

i work in hr, we monitor this site daily and will derail/sabotage topics which we find "harmful" to cisco's reputation. when topics are deleted, hr does not contact the mod, we just "mess up" the topic with racist/sexist innuendos aka trolling. now, since this is an anonymous site, we have to screenshot our posts before hitting the submit button as proof of our work. hahaha

Imagine that. Of course not. How would you even pay an employee for commenting on a random site such as this one, I mean from a practical point of view? Do you pay for any comment made? On any topic? Do you pay extra when embellishing the truth? Super bonus if you attack naysayers? Plus think about it. Nothing posted on this site is trustworthy. It's opinions and trolls. HR doesn't give a rat's b-m about it.

HR monitors glassdoor . com. They frequently post replies to people's reviews. I recall after my LR and posting a review, someone in HR replied that whatever I said was due to being a bitter employee's lie and not the truth. Why not post here? I'm sure HR is salaried and paid a flat income, not per post. Get real, no one would pay per quote.

Businesses have people who are paid to respond to yelp reviews. Again, they're either paid by the hour or paid a salary, not by posts.

Millions of people from all kinds of companies know about this site and have known about it for years.

We are just starting a major recession.

Wouldn't be surprised if Apple RTP build-out delayed much longer.

Enjoy this upcoming recession cycle, Uncle Joe's print-money-hangover-party is just starting; get ready to board the LR train.

'And are they paid to post favorable comments to offset or call negative comments lies?'

What exactly (or as close to exact as you feel you can get) does HR do with this site?

Are people in the company paid to monitor it?

And are they paid to post favorable comments to offset or call negative comments lies?

Get to work remote for the time being.

I just read a news article that the Apple Director of machine learning quit over the RTW policy driving Apple workers back into the offices.

Regardless, it's going to be a while before anyone working for Apple in RTP can go into an office since it hasn't been built yet.

Can you give a bit more color on that "I've always know about this site due to my department ..."?
