Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

If everything costs 10-50% more..

The COLA here was pathetic in 2022. Why isn't Charlie sky rocketing interest rates? Every other business in town is raising costs 15-50%. We need to start demanding better pay. On top of that who is he to demand us back in the office 3 days a week when he's not keeping our wages in alignment with the ridiculous price increases we're having to deal with. You read the front internal website and everything on there he's focused on is garbage no one cares about. I don't care about what the Nth new executive thinks, or all these stupid political topics, just show me money.

Inflation is a tax on ALL you earn - your money is worth less. 10% inflation and a 2% pay increase means you took an 8% salary cut. Period. If you want to get your earnings back up - you'll need to switch job and/or firms.

Keeping up with inflation means getting a raise big enough to cover your EXPENSE increase not one to match your salary. If inflation is 5% and your salary is $100k and your expenses are $60K you only need a raise of $3,000 to keep up with inflation. A 3% salary increase. Inflation is a calculation against expenses.

The word 'COLA' needs to be banned from this site. There are not, never has been, and never will be, COLA pay increases at WF. I don't understand why people keep bringing it up. I understand that inflation is greater than our pay increases, and that sucks, but COLA are not a thing here and that's not changing.

What sucks is that tye spread on rates right now is absolutely insane but tye asset cap is preventing us from expanding and growing tye loan portfolio. If he doesn't get it done soon, he'll be on tye hot seat.

Who is he to demand staff in the office 3 days a week? He’s the boss. And you clearly don’t understand anything about the business you are in.

If it doesn't increase the size of his compensation package, what's the point?

We can't charge any more than the going market rate. I know this is breaking news, but presuming there's a competitive market, businesses don't set prices, costs and customer tolerances do. Sure, charlie could try to charge whatever he wants, but no one would be willing to pay 10% for a loan if every other bank was charging 5%.
