Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Stop Sponsorships

So if WF can't turn enough profit, doesn't want to give pay raises & did not want to keep sponsoring the golf tournament when it bought Wachovia, why is WF still sponsoring it?

Op, when you say “our leadership” at the time of the merger, you realize there’s been a near 100% turnover in the C-suite since then, right? So even if “they” DID say it wasn’t in our interest, who cares?

I get being ticked about lousy comp but getting rid of the championship won’t solve that problem. Charlie’s pay is a better target of your ire.

Besides I doubt anyone made that statement at a time when Wells was bending over backwards to placate the residents of Charlotte about the bank’s commitment to the region.

OP - My point is, they say we didn't make enough, so little or no raises. Also, when the merger was going through, our leadership spoke out about the tournament sponsorship specifically and how it wasn't in our best interests.

Didn’t Wells make 20Bn of profits over the past 12 months?

Who says “they” didn’t want to keep the sponsorship? Don’t know the cost/benefit breakdown but it serves obvious marketing purposes plus Wealth uses tickets and other perks at the event to shmooze clients. Taking the WF name off the tents won’t put money in employees’ pockets.

No idea what the current executive leadership thinks but Stumpf was under huge pressure from NC to keep it at the time of the merger. Charlotte Observer positively hounded him about it, and he was terrified of local ill will.

Give it up already. Can't you find something better to whine about?
