Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Product Solutions forum

Anyone have feedback from the Americas Product Solutions leadership forum?
As a (former) F&L employee, KM seems to be an improvement from our previous president.

Some notable comments were that the HR processes around PIPs are too impersonal, and that the value proposition for young employees is that attrition has opened many doors for advancement. Fingers crossed that we'll see some improvements, but I don't know if I'll stick around long enough to find out.

Even our turnaround costs in our refineries and chemical plants is two to three times the industry average. And we pride ourselves on controlling costs.

Overall SWB is so high and uncompetitive as I have to imagine we're far too top heavy. Supervisors, managers, executives, advisors, principles, chiefs, far too many of those in the numerator. Too many of those in the total headcount in my opinion.

Our leadership team should just be honest with us and share the consulting company(s) study which clearly shows that our OPEX is higher than the other four majors (i.e. BP, Shell, Chevron, and Total Energies).

Total headcount and salaries are the #1 and #2 factors in OPEX.

KM says XOM can’t pay more because we are already being paid market rates while people leave faster than we can hire because they are getting more total compensation at our competitors and truly flexible work schedules. However, she did say help was on the way. I am sure we will be encouraged in January.

They pretend to provide flexible work schedules. Why even KM was able to fly back to US from Ireland on a work day after visiting family. That is a lot different than a 9 80 schedule.

They know we know they know and still insult us by pretending that XOM is a prime salary and flexible schedule employer. I do give kudos that they seem to do the whole presentation with a straight face.

You need to remember that all Presidents and Vice Presidents will smile and spin their true feelings when they are speaking in a public forum. However, behind closed doors, the President or Vice President will cut you off at the knee cap.

We once had a President at an internal refinery and petrochemical plant managers meeting that if the refinery manager or petrochemical plant manager could not meet their scorecard metrics provided to them by Dallas for the year, the President would have them replaced by someone that could meet the metrics next year.

OP, I’m from chemicals here! KM like all other XOM executives will only show their fake nice and caring face at first, specially during such high attrition time, to play with your emotions before they show their real unethical disgusting face.
Don’t let them fool you! Think with your head not with your heart

1rht+1gEgrrE3 at the O&A chemical plant in Beaumont we never address the root cause because those that are giving us the root never think there the cause.

I guess it’s easier to highlight the positive aspects of attrition than to address the root causes. But pay is fair, we’re having fun, we have a purpose, we…wait, where is everyone going?
