Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

People in position to hire, how hard has it been to hire as of late.

I keep on reading posts about people leaving Cisco and getting poached by other companies. So to flip the script are people joining Cisco at a similar rate.

I wonder why? Company seems to have really lost its way. Mandatory training seems the only goal worth measuring these days. In the last 2 months, I’ve been required to complete FIVE mandatory trainings. The next one is diversity.

Spend several months trying to bring in a sr engineer, no luck. Team is beginning not to function.

I was told that I couldn’t hire my selected candidate because of the 12 candidates that applied, there weren’t enough diversity candidates. I had to go to LinkedIn to find people who “looked right” in the eyes of Cisco. This wasn’t fair to the #2 candidate that I hired (lost #1 because we took so long) nor was it fair to the diversity candidates that I had to find to get that all important check in the box.

Great people are leaving in droves over failed covid policies, lack of innovation, and woke ideology replacing the need to make a dollar.

Cisco transformed itself under Chuck, Maria, and Fran into a social justice firm because when is the last time they ever spoke about better products, better support for said products, and real world supply issues? They are just fleecing Cisco for their payday and stock options then move to leach off their next host.

Pretty easy with college grads, impossible with more senior "talent". I put talent between quotes because of the remarkably low quality of people I interviewed lately.
