Verification of Employment - why so difficult?

As a former employee, is it possible to get a VOE from Exxonmobil?

I call the number and they just give me the runaround because I’m a former employee.

My former supervisor and department head act like they never knew me. Spineless simps.

Well that is a problem. The reason employers use a 3rd party is to ensure they are getting direct documentation. Having the employee route the document breaks the chain of custody. You would think an an-l retentive company like Exxon would understand this.

You need to request the VOE...They do not respond to third party requests.

It took me almost 3 months to close on my new home because of this.

One of the most frustrating experiences of my life. Even with me on the phone personally providing info almost down to my blood type.. they still gave me the runaround.

I had to dig deep into my emails and reach out to the HR person I was working with when I was hiring on, it was a crapshoot, but she was still with the company and able to direct me to someone that can tell my lender 'yeah this person worked here'.

Absolutely ridiculous.

they probably asked them to call a center in Bangalore to verify your employment

Save your first paystub and last paystub. And submit all W-2 during your employment. This is what I did

Same my new employer uses a 3rd party and they made efforts to reach out to Exxon, but they just gave up. Thankfully it didn’t matter at the end

I know, it’s ridiculous. My new employer uses a 3rd party to do employment history verification. I saw the notes from their numerous attempts to get my history from Exxon. They were never able to get anyone to respond. Fortunately I had a VOE I used for a mortgage refinance (which also came too late) just before I got laid off.
