Are you gettting location information (e.g., what doors I used to enter and when, restroom enter times, etc.)

Distance travelled to an office can be calculated probably about 3 different ways. Be assured they will look into the travel distance in detail and hold employees accountable to going into the office. Exceptions don’t seem to be getting approved….
It’s done by IP address for the most part. Not everyone has a badge/smart card. Not sure if it differs by business line but WIM is IP address. If it was badge, I would leave it in the office and ask my co-worker to swipe daily for me. Every 2 weeks, I come in and hand him a $20 gas card. Gas is $6 a gallon here.
another manager here... confirming... badge report is distributed and the real focus is now on trends/averages and those in the 0-1 per week bucket (and there are plenty of those). message is: burn in/adjustment time is over. expectation is 3 days per week. as others have indicated on this thread, if it's a little under that's not the focus right now.
Failure to comply will be treated as a performance dimension - I.e. coaching first, then warning, etc. Just like any other performance dimension different managers may enforce faster or slower than others... but make no mistake about it, if a manager fails to take action then eventually they are on the line performance-wise also.
Several on my team are over 50 miles from the nearest WF office. We're being told "keep working remote" but they're not putting it in writing.
We think there's some CYA going on among the front line managers, who are not being told any more than the rest of us.
I'm getting information about badge swipes for my directs. I haven't been asked to do anything about it. I'm not getting any information about LAN/VPN/IP usage, and I haven't heard anything about that coming.
So if they are only looking at a 2-3 tier… doesn’t that mean you could just alternate between 2 days and 3 days in every other week or something similar, and you wouldn’t stand out as long as it averages out to something between 2-3?
I have seen the CPG report and it is as said above they have zero, 1, 2-3 and then 4 and above. If you do a drill in it will show PTO etc and I have heard some orgs are tougher than others. But basically if you swipe in you are good. Passed that for the most part they do not care.
L3 are getting the reports and funneling down. conversations been happening this week with folks who show 0 days. I'd say for most business support roles you are probably safe for now with missing a day or here here or there but eventually they'll be coming for you if you aren't averaging 3
Sr. Product Manager (AI) in SF here, nobody asked me to look at anything for anybody
If life happens and you can’t make it in all 3 days every now and then, as long as it’s not a constant occurrence and you let your manager know why so they can vouch for you later, there’s some flexibility there too
If the are reasonable, that's cool. My fear is that they are reasonable now but will change the approach later.
Our entire larger “team” (70+ people) were told in a call by a director-level leader (one level down from the EVP, two levels down from Charlie, who is also our “site-leader” for RTO) that they are looking at badge swipes and LAN. My understanding is, as of this time, it’s mostly just a binary thing: did you badge in that day? Did you connect to Wells Fargo LAN? Check both boxes and you’re good. Any company property that you have badge access to and has the LAN network counts, even if it’s not the office/floor you’re specifically assigned to. So, for instance, if you work at a building that has one of those “Hub” spaces with like a cafe that you have to badge into, you can work there all day and it’ll pass the report. PTO days count as in-office. Have to leave a little early sometimes and finish the day at home? Not the end of the world. If life happens and you can’t make it in all 3 days every now and then, as long as it’s not a constant occurrence and you let your manager know why so they can vouch for you later, there’s some flexibility there too. At this moment in time, they’re mainly worried about the people that haven’t been coming in at all.
Thank you @1vyn - that's good info
My RTO assignment still shows remote on some systems of record and a building location on others. As a manager in TI a lot hinges on LOB. I worked with my directs to build the best business case for all of them to remain remote and not have a 1.5 hour commute. Of my ten people not a single one of us is in the same city, with only two in the same state.
I see some good info in this thread but I am still waiting on a manager or higher to chime in.
Why are they so slefish?
“Roam the halls for 3 hours then go home to sit by the pool” LOLOL
No one is looking at LAN logins, stupid rumor.
1 day a week that's what we're being told every 2 weeks in team meetings
This is all based on your manager and what he thinks is best, I guess. Because our manager hasn't brought it up. Most of our group goes in here and there.
@1jwb+1gGTAGTx while it may not demonstrate when you are on the phone, etc, your device has agents on it that communicate its connection to the network.
in my area we are getting names of folks who are not coming in at all and showing 0 days on reporting. Managers are having conversations with them.
@1jwb+1gGTAGTx they only use the LAN data where you can badge in but not out. They are comparing your VP’N status to determine where you are.
For instance - you badge in, roam the halls for 3 hours then leave (no badge swipe out) and sign in at home to sit by the pool. They use your swipe in as the start of your day then recognize the VPN activity halfway though the day to estimate that you only spent a few hours in the office.
While this is not being brought to your attention now while the focus is on the people who have never been in the office, it will be the next wave of “coaching”. Folks who think this reporting is hard to do at scale are very unfamiliar with the tools in place. It’s literally a push of a few buttons.
I don't see how lan data can be used reliably, not all work requires constant PC activity.
I noticed starting on Tuesday of this week there have been many more cars in the parking lot at my office than there had been since the start of RTO. It was an obvious increase, so it seems as though the word is getting out.
Badge swipe reports are being generated. We have two people who have not come in at all and they have been spoken to. It is a performance management issue and these conversations are considered “coaching” and the employee’s first and only chance to start coming in.
I’d like to know also - is 6 hours in the office BS? I’ve only heard rumors about LAN tracking. It seems like a lot of work to report on LAN activity for this many employees
Did I miss something? I see folks come in and leave at lunch time? Is only staying a few hours considered a full day in the office? And yes, I am in a building where you swipe in and out
Great, now I get to waste all my PTO limiting the impact of this stupid sh-t. Thanks a lot execs.
I take a video and save it every time I am in the office to show the humongous sea of empty cubes on my floor. I am the only one there.
I am saving the videos to use against HR or any manager that dares approach me about why I did not come in a certain week or two.
I'd ask why am I being singled out? Is it because I am a white male? are the non-whites being treated the same?
I mean that tongue and cheek - more as a comment to another post about DEI. Look, treat us all equally and fairly. If everyone is showing up, I will.
We're getting badge swipe reports, but we're not being asked to do anything with them aside from setting the expectation of 3 days in office. If your manager doesn't care, you're fine.
HR has said PTO counts as day in office, e.g. work two days in office and then take Friday as PTO, Friday counts as 3rd day in office. That could obviously be changed as leadership drives for maximum attrition and max bonuses for themselves. It's all a crapshoot around here.
PTO is counted as a day in office. If you had three days of PTO you would not need to come into the office that week.
OC-2. 3 days in a week or you get a zero. PTO all week you get a zero. No manager discretion either. 3 days in a week you are good. Anything less you fail. It is that ridiculous.
I could be wrong, but my understanding is that PTO is counted as a day in the office
Does the reporting take into account PTO? I am begrudgingly going in 3 day per week, but counting a PTO day as an office day. Pretty d-mb if they are counted as a WFH day, so people who take PTO actually have less flexibility to cram in the 3 office days. What a way to recharge through PTO, right? I will be mad if I am showing up anywhere other than the forced 3x bucket because of the way PTO is counted.
In my org only the OC-2 leaders have seen the report, it's as described above as a table, our group hasn't asked for rationales on the 0 days people
Not a manager but I’ve seen. It’s a table with percent of org in 3+, 2-3, 1-2, 0 - they are asking for rationale for each zero people right now at least where I am
Ministry of Truth is watching you even if your manager isn't
worried?
