Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Uncertainty destroys morale

I don’t know if leading people here are aware of the extent to which uncertainty and all previous rounds of layoffs have affected employee morale. No job is secure and everyone is aware of that. However, here at Cisco this uncertainty is much greater than at some other companies. I have survived several rounds of layoffs, but I wonder if it is worth going through all that stress so often

I can relate to this, I submitted my 2 weeks notice this Tuesday. The solution is obvious ,,, move-out, unfortunately, there is no alternative. If I am correct the only time that we didn't have layoff in our BU was in 2019 and 2021 other than that there was a layoff every single year while I was there! I will not tell you that you'll not see any layoff in your next gig but as you mentioned not to Cisc rate and madness, also if you're in the process of applying for the GC then good luck with the 6 months freeze policy.

Also left in 2017 after a good long run.

Was asked on my interest to come back on two occasions since.

Sorry, your loss Cisco.

Nothing worse than putting most of your soul into an effort for a very long time, then being shown the door.

For what? Demonstrated results?

Smooth move.

Oh we're aware. But nobody seems to care. It's talk talk talk, do as I say don't do as I do with this "leadership". If it stresses you, honestly don't stay here. It used to stress me a lot but then life events happened and made me financially independent. Stress totally gone.

Do not think for one second that there will not be layoffs this upcoming fall. The knives are being sharpened and no one is safe.

I left in 2017, and I remember the my shock over the first small layoff I witnessed in 2007. It became an overbearing concern, being a top of scale grade 11 employee and over 40.

Haven't had any concerns about such "meat-cleaver" layoffs since I left for greener pastures. Can't imagine still putting up with the nagging concern that any quarter could be my last, even as a top performer.
