Utilities have little growth and the only reason to buy was for the 4.93% yield

With 8% inflation that reasoning goes out the door

Historically the VZ stock defaults to Bell Atlantic, which gave 1.22 shares in the new company to GTE shareholders. The 'merger of equals' was really a BEL acquisition of GTE, just like NYN - with the surviving culture being the wokest and weakest. Just sayin'.

This post makes no sense at all, Verizon Communications was created on June 30, 2000 by Bell Atlantic Corp. and GTE Corp. There was NO Verizon in 1998.

Verizon is a utility that keeps trying to be something else and failing instead of staying the best utility it can be. It also led the charge to spending on 5g and it seems mostly hasnt figured out a reason for it.
Whether they are trying to hide that with the PCness or doing PCness for its own sake the other issues are the issue eith thr stock price although the market in complete free fall, inflation, and the rest of the worlds problems might just might be a factor too.
