Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Covid runs rampant

The number of meetings I had canceled this week because people who have returned to campus are now out with covid is RIDICULOUS.

Will Nike acknowledge it? No.
Do anything about it? No.

Not only were the office spaces that my team came back to not ready for use on the Return to the Workplace dates (there were boxes of things from the previous team everywhere and all of the monitors had been pilfered), but we also haven't had any janitorial staff cleaning the areas AT ALL since we returned. So much for "enhanced cleaning" to ensure safety.

Covid cases are now the highest they've been in Washington County, Oregon at any time except the Omicron surge. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/washington-oregon-covid-cases.html

I understand a large group of people coming together on a regular basis raises the chances of covid spreading. Wish there was more transparency to the scale of what’s happening on campus. The silence doesn’t help to manage it.

I totally see your point and this worries me too but this virus isn’t going anywhere. At some point, life has to continue as it’s here to stay. It’s pretty obvious that most CEO’s of major corporations feel the same way. It’s just our turn to return as many others have already. I’ve lost many in my circle, including family to this virus. I’m vaxxed and boosted and I can only hope that when it’s my turn, I make it through alive and without long term affects. I hope the same for you.

When a large number of people congregate in one place and there is a transmissible virus in the mix, there is only one outcome. The virus will move rampantly between these people. But hey, you are getting cookies, a large inflatable “start” sign, a DJ, and a dancing id--t or two 😂

Covid has been picking up again across Oregon along with several other states. Vermont, for example, is finally getting hit pretty hard. It’s not because of RTW although clearly that doesn’t help matters. In the next month if you haven’t already been exposed to Covid you probably will be. I’m not concerned about Covid so much. What bothers me is that returning to campus has been depressing. Working here didn’t use to depress me. Now it does. Probably going to see my doctor for meds because otherwise I just can’t do this.

I am a person with an impaired immune system. And was told in a meeting that some in the meeting had the week before been exposed to other Nike employees who had tested positive. While I appreciate that these people wore a mask and tested negative I would have appreciated more if they stayed home.

Yes. It’s scary how much and how fast. So far, no messaging going out to the broader community either. Leaders on my team are acting like nothings happening.

Same here but not sure that is due to RTW? Too soon?
