Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Are other banks really hiring for remote positions?

Heard that sentence a million times on this board, and there is nothing that I would like more than to leave WF for another job in the industry, ut I cant seem to find any open positions for remote employment in my line of expertise. Are people just saying that there are remote jobs available at other banks or have people really found remote jobs?

Can not speak to the bank side, but many of our employees on the brokerage side are leaving for 100% remote jobs at other brokerages.

WFA is a $hit show right now. They’re letting some of our most talented people walk out the door because of RTO and WFC’s refusal to step it up on pay. Then they have to hire 2 less-competent people to replace the one talent who left and the work just keeps falling further and further behind.

Where is the common sense?

I left wells for another bank 9 months ago. Full remote, 20% raise. Lost one week of PTO but overall very pleased.

Get that puck to net, meet those company goals, and get peanuts for a "raise"--doesn't even match the massive inflations in the US empire

Don't stay on a sinking ship. You may find far better real opportunities away from The Corporation

I bailed from WF a year ago. I got a 14% raise, they match my 401K contributions each month - unlike WF who only match once PER YEAR. They met my PTO requirements which was a huge win since I had been with WF over 20 years. Scharf and team are running off good people with tenure by reducing benfits and harshing out the annual review process so its impossible to "consistently meet" goals. They are doing this because if they lay off a 20 year team member, it costs them a year salary.
I work remotely 100% of the time. Good companies and organizations need you way more than you need Wells Fargo - make the jump. You will be rewarded - fortune favors the brave.

All of the big banks are either hybrid or in office every day, without a doubt tied to their commercial real estate. MUFG and USAA can be remote because they do not have as much property and can just end their WeWork leases, etc. These big banks are not going to pay all this money on their properties to have the buildings sit empty. Who is going to buy these billions worth of property, especially during this market right now? Nobody. I'm sure if they could save money having us at home, they would do it like the smaller financial institutions. It sucks but is what it is, which is also why they are using location strategy to consolidate into hubs.

Tech seems to have some flexibility, but for everyone else, if you want to work for a big bank, you are not going to be fully remote for the foreseeable future.

Depends entirely on what you do, just like it does here at WF.
