Verizon Health Insurance

I am a new employee. I have Anthem BCBS. Co-insurance and deductible are very high. This was the default picked by HR. Is there any other Plan which I should have taken? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you didn't do your OE research and just picked the "cheapest on your check". You don't have to take the HD plan and if you do they have a whole section explaining why you need to fund your PRETAX HSA to go with it. If you don't read or understand it just take the PPO in the fall.

Tell them you want the plan from 2011 where we paid 0 per week, had a $150 deductible and a very low out of pocket. Tell the union when they agreed to start paying for medical why they agreed to an entirely new medical plan? we got double screwed....

No better plan? Y’all gotta get out more. My spouse has a better plan even my father has a better plan and they both work for much smaller employers than VZ.
Verizon is still really good just far from the best anymore.

VZ has great health insurance, dont take these Debbie Downers serious...
The VZ BCBS PPO Plus is a great plan. It does have a deductible; however, the deductible is only applied to a few items (ie surgery, etc)
Good luck!

High deductible plans are much much cheaper for employers as they cut costs. Many ,many employers are headed this direction.

There is no better plan that they offer us. The deductibles are so high that sometimes I think it's better to have Medicaid. My yearly deductible is about $4000. It truly is THE WORST and THE HIGHEST medical coverage out there, it's not even worth working towards getting it free anymore because then how can we afford it after retirement? That's the "new and improved" Verizon for you though...smh

I was ages ago but I thought I got to pick when I was hired. At the 2020 oct/nov(?) benefits renewal the health plan I was on said only available to existing participants so Im not sure if there is another or better one then the high deductable one. Theyll give you full details at the end of the year if there is another option so you can decide then.

I have a couple appts this week and they are going to cost me over $800 out of pocket where in prior years they were $25 or $30. Medication that was free is moe going to be a couple hundred until I hit my limits. Benefits are way down but maybe that is the same everywhere.
