Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

We have got money!

Now that we have got money and lots of it ExxonMobil IT hosted their team building welcoming summer with games, ice cream with food trucks brought over. With that reduction in our operational costs last year by pipping, laying off, and forcing people out we are all back to XOM created "norm". This is a perfect way luring new potential employment candidates while hiding (under the rug) the bad dog eat dog, ruthless, and least people focused culture. If having events like this and posting photos of it for publicity is the only way we can claim we care about people than this is nothing but a failure. The nepotistic kids have also started coming in as interns, anyone noticing this as well? I am sure people continue to rhyme, "WeAreExxonMobil."

I went to the party and pretty much surprised at the number of people I saw. Asking myself "am I better that this person or that." I am sure, they are thinking the same too. I saw some familiar faces and asked them "you're still here, survivor!". It seemed like a celebration of the survivors. Now, who's next?

@1lpe+1gMn566s I mean, that is the point of a company in general? To make money for shareholders? If shareholders didn’t get paid, who would ever invest or create businesses? What would be the incentive to putting up money for someone to build a company and then to not give you money back?

Wrong. We don't have a dime. THE INVESTORS GOT THE MONEY. Dividends and stock repurchases. We are all screwed.

@uhi+1gMn566s, well I went with plain old vanilla representing our company culture and risk averseness. Heck even the flag flown is vanilla now. I was surprised that organizers didn't brought over any Kool aid trucks on site. I guess they already know people have drunk enough of it and there won't be any demand for it and hence might have fallen back with ice cream truck. These organizers (#hotshots) will be rewarded for pulling this great event together.

Treatment of employees over last two years have really been an eye opener at all fronts, including back stabbing, lieing, etc. I wonder how many employees now see this company as just a paycheck vs. a having a perception or faith in having a long term and secure job or career? For me it's just a paycheck and I am not giving a single additional drop of my sweat and blood outside of 8 hours daily as that's all what I get paid for. Anyone else?

You are right, the company and MC has got the money now to throw bones to dogs now. How low could we go as a company without recognizing what's wrong fundamentally?
