How much should you be paid?

Now you can see real salary info by comparing what you are paid to what's listed here. Just put Cisco in the employer field and you will see a goldmine of salary for all job categories at Cisco in different cities in the US. Already did that for ya. Now, where are all those folks who been claiming that they make $280k in base salary at Cisco. Raaaaaaaaaa!

Pretty accurate website. Plug in your title and you'll see a range of base salaries. Top base rate was darn close to starting rate for grade 11 in my job title. Add 15-20% for bonus and it's definitely very close.

I spent some more time on that website. There is more data for 2021. Here are the pay ranges for software engineers (1-4) and they range from 101k to 204k. How are both extremes possible?

From the link:

San Jose software engineer 130k. That's quite meaningless as that's the median over software engineer 1 to 4.

San Jose tech lead 157k. That's a little less meaningless as we have way more tech leads 1 than 2. So, the median for tech lead 1 is somewhat below 157k, say 150k. Come on guys, I bet Google college hires get more ...

Recently left Cisco for a 70k increase in base salary. Can’t say I regret it. I wish Cisco would have gotten their sh-t together but alas, it never happened. Bon Voyage and good luck!
