As a former Webex employee, I'm saddened by the loss of the China team. The ship is finally sinking. It has been a tough journey, with many internal struggles and attempts to replace Webex with new products. Despite all the challenges, they managed to hold their ground. It's not that the product was inferior, but constant political battles hindered progress. To have come this far is nothing short of a miracle.
I was a working with a Cisco collab partner. Nobody buying WebEx outside some paranoid govt departments
I’ve been out of Cisco for ages and never worked in collaboration yet I still get calls from friends telling me why they hate WebEx. Their complaints seem valid. Maybe less focus on making licensing more abusive and more focus on making products less abusive might help.
I was with Cisco for 13 years. Loved webex… then I left… I found out MS doesn’t have teams sales people. Cisco has webex sales people. Companies are moving from webex to teams even though no one is selling it…
Then I saw how teams is integrated into outlook. Wow. Teams calling works! All the features webex says it has teams has and teams works.
Collab is dead at Cisco. Sorry.
Majority of Customers will not move from cucm to webex, they will move form cucm to MS teams, reason being MS teams basic functionality is free and comes pre-installed on Windows
It matters not if webex has more calling features that MS Teams,, or that the webex gui is a copy of ms teams gui. again MS Teams is free as in you don't pay for it
Cisco Collab eco-system should focus on the on-prem infrastructure side of collab, like the sbc's , devices and on-prem pbx and c.c .
Competing with Microsoft in the software market is lunacy, at the same time in other verticals the other network vendors are filling the on-prem solution void that cisco is leaving behind.
Clients will not pay for something where the alternative is free like zoom or teams. However they will pay for on-prem quality solutions.
My PSS collab teams are terrible... expecially on the CC side. They have sat in their roles way too long and know how to game the system. I actively try not to engage them.
While we are at it, get the he-l rid of Calabrio - that sh-t is so outdated and expensive. How have we not partnered with more relevant OEMS???
Got out of Cisco a few years back and never looked back. They have been nothing more than anemic in their approach with customers and their employees. You can only blame yourselves (management) with the whole loss of great talent and customer focus. Sitting in the leadership calls showed a true indication of loss of pulse in reality and to only self soothe their egos. and pad their own wallets.
@1awj WebEx used to be a verb outside of Cisco. Customers moved on. We'll do Teams or Zoom is more of a verb now...
Migrate Webex to WebXXX. Guaranteed to see growth... LOL
We needs meet with Chuck. Only direct conversation with engineers can help make collab sales to grow. Sales and marketing is like looser on steroid with no brain at the best case. We presented plan to Executive team on how grow over 12 months but they smokes own bad breath. We need to meet Chuck now! Only working engineers can help. Middle managers and directors too stupid to knowing.

Only if you work at Cisco. If you watch social media, news, twitter, etc., the most commonly used verb is ZOOM! And Teams is coming in second. I'm shocked if I hear/see the use of Webex as a verb outside of Cisco.

Does it make sense to sell Collab at this point? Going down each quarter, not core business, WFH means no video/desk endpoint sales, Webex losing steam, pieces worth more than sum of parts. Maybe Poly wants to get into software/cloud calling instead of slinging boxes.

On the previous earnings call they renamed Collaboration to Hybrid Work. Now they have changed it back to Collaboration.

Bad investments (acquisitions), significant engineering staff churn, too much focus on implementing trendy features, terrible marketing strategy. It’s only going to get worse.
Maybe if Cisco IT wasn’t so awful, then people would actually want to deal with them
