IT&V depends on the team your on but basically they don't do anything but busy work.
There’s people who work pretty hard in ITV to get it right and then there’s the rest but that don’t do much but have been there for years. If you’re in the latter group you’ll last longer no need to wear yourself out

Lead is Gwen M. She messed up multiple programs the rolled out RCSA after the IPRC debacle. She f'd it up so badly she got promoted to run the remediation of the phase 1 rollout. She is the problem along with all the dental team under NH who have clearly never executed RCSA. PwC, equally culpable. Good concept, tragically comical rollout. Let's have execs who we promoted with no background take a 1 day course and facilitate onsite. Sure, that will fix it.

What happened with the RCSA roll out? If there is issues with RCSA then what will IT&V be testing? Guess they will be scrambling to come up with something that will most likely be rushed and irrelevant just so they can have busy work for the team.

Right, it also used to be referred to as Enterprise Risk. I guess the idea is that by calling it Independent, it will make people think it really is. Consequently, people will think Independent Testing is something worth keeping.
From my lens a combo of op risk and SEO, either way, our new CRO, DF is accountable. Oh well, he was always temporary anyway.

Everyone seems to be happy that ITV isn’t doing anything but the only thing worse than ITV testing is ITV doing testing as busy work. Get ready for a bunch of unplanned reviews that have no clear scope!
If IT&V teams are really doing nothing then they are doing their best work, ever.
Didn’t realize they ever had anything to do besides push paper and call things issues that literally don’t meet the definition of an issue.
The overall RCSA program was and has been the worst program rollout of my career. What a joke!

@ujb+1gO8DxwY Totally agree. ITV is there for the sole purpose of how can we make the process or control look good? What loophole is available to push something through? It adds no real value to the front line because the front line can just disregard what testers say by weaponizing legal or compliance. It’s all a joke really
As someone that use to work in IT&V, I can vouch for the team being totally unnecessary. I was tasked with doing work that was built solely for reinforcing the idea a process (team) was doing something right. My work was edited and modified until it wasn't my work any more. total waste.
IT&V is constantly changing its approach and methodology, what they test, and how they test - thanks to the incompetent so-called “Strategy” team. LT, that’s you, and you’re way over your head!
The approach to RCSA has been a cluster from the get-go. There is no stability and change fatigue is very real for everyone in the group. They also look at details that are not important (unless you are a gnat) in the grand scheme of things. They try to be relevant, but are always behind the ball.
Leadership doesn’t want to change. They would rather plod along until the next shift in approach and then blame their inefficiencies on trying to learn the new way of testing.
I mean ITV doesn’t really do anything anyway. Tim Sloan really had a plan to turn the bank around from a risk and control standpoint but that never worked out. Now with Charlie you see the focus shift back to a balance sheet let’s get efficient mindset with less emphasis on managing risk. ITV literally passes everything so RCSA must’ve been pretty bad for ITV to say they can’t test it
It’s not like IT&V does anything anyway. Someone probably caught wind that they were just passing controls to pass them. The issue and control oversight in the company is putrid . It’s just a matter of keeping the ship afloat until assets are sold

I worked several issues through the GIM process, it would have been nice to have some consistency across analysts, no one knows what the other is doing, they're each doing it different and failing for different reasons, all bowing down to a think she knows it all Tur*** who things she poops ice cream. I don't miss that at all. With the recent email from MasterBates about TCP, I"m sure RCSA is considered baggage till the next time OCC hits us and we spool up again.

Because they were useless and found controls with no documentation, policies or procedures effective, signed off as effective on controls that they say they tested at a date last year sm--k dab in the middle of the control going through the issue management process, found controls effective where half of the data in SHRP was wrong or missing. They should have been gone long ago, may they rest in peace, along side the GIM process.
