Thread regarding Ford layoffs

On the way to becoming a hyper-competitive work environment

It is true that there has always been a lot of competitiveness at Ford, but it was mostly healthy competition among employees. What is happening now and why does it seem to me that Ford is becoming a hyper-competitive work environment? The new performance pay model directly leads to the creation of a very unhealthy competitive culture.

Was told that every employee is now in competition with every other employee. Makes sense when everyone is doing the same job. But when your jobs are not the same even in the same department, it can be hard to compare. Favorites among managers can be problematic. The backstabbers and brown nose employees will be worse. Nothing wrong being just a good employee who works regular hours to keep work life balance. Take out the knives and arrows out of your back before switching to family time.

Backstabbing is at an all time high. Hearing about a relatively new LL4 in Enterprise Connectivity that is threatening people with firings and other things on a daily basis. Apparently gets on camera during meetings with his feet up on a chair and berates everyone in the meeting for being incompetent. Sounds like a real gem. Good hiring and promoting practices!

Yeah, I think this will make it suck more. Probably better for the company to do targeted layoffs for people who really aren't performing.
