I heard a million times that layoffs decisions are made a relatively long time before they are executed and that at least a couple of management tiers are involved in those decisions or at least familiar with them. So how do they keep that info so secret? Almost any other info about any management decision aside from layoffs leaks sooner than later and hits the rumor mill. Not layoff info. I never hard concrete information about that. Why is that the case?

What risk area was laid off?.
manager here who has been thru many rounds. it doesn't leak because leaks often/usually can be traced back to the source... and then the source is fired. it's a pretty powerful deterrent.
Layoffs target areas are a pretty open secret, it doesn't take a genius to read the writing on the wall.
That is interesting. Then what is the point of this board? :) If things are going to be censored? :)
People privy to the information sign NDAs which are enforced
More than likely the people who are privy to the information either do not know about "The Layoff" or they too scared to leak anything for fear of losing their job.
Another alternative is that the information was posted but someone at Wells Fargo requested it be taken down or staff at The Layoff deem it sensitive and against their ToS and took it down.
If you have info about a layoff you are better off giving it to reporters because they will chase down the story and publish it.
I posted a risk area that was laid off last week and it was taken down.
