Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Mach E is a SLUG.

We used to cancel platforms with this volume. As more reliable and affordable alternatives are available, Mustang Mach-E will tailspin into the ground. Better get lots of money for the limited amount of data on 25,000 vehicles a year.

Ford Mustang Mach-E sales increased two percent to 6,734 units during the first quarter of 2022, placing fifth in the expanded EV segment in terms of cumulative sales volume. The Tesla Model Y took first place with a 64 percent increase to 55,000 units, followed by the Tesla Model 3 in second with a 74 percent increase to 40,200 deliveries. Third place was taken by the Hyundai Kona, whose sales decreased 31 percent to 15,536 units. The Kia Niro took fourth with a 114 percent increase to 9,226 deliveries, followed by the Mach-E in fifth. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 took sixth with 6,244 units and the Nissan Leaf placed seventh with 4,371 deliveries. The rest of the segment contenders each posted less than 5,000 deliveries.

Agree that hybrids are the answer, that is if you can produce a quality up to par with toyota which they cant. My neice 0used my employee discount plan to by a Lincoln hybrid. She ended up taking it back to the dealer after too many issues. I know people buying 5 year old Prius and love them. Sad.....

  1. Battery production can't sustain higher sales and won't for several years.
  1. The grid cannot handle mass adoption of EVs.
  1. The cost of charging is increasing. Fast charging costs as much as filling your gas tank. IF YOU CAN EVEN FIND THEM.
  1. The market isn't ready for pure EVs. Most people want hybrids (not plugin). To increase gas mileage but not have to worry about about range anxiety.

The fact that Bill and Jim haven't recognized this is very telling.

Tesla is so far ahead there is no catching up. Also, Tesla and Elon Musk have cache, Ford and Farley do not.
