Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Trying to keep the job

Maybe someone is in a much better situation than me and has several other options, but I have to do my best to keep this job as long as possible. I believe many more people will be laid off by 2023.

Does it even make sense to try to keep the job with hard work and engagement alone?

Make sure that you are in the Model E part of the business. Ideally around anything that is announced in vehicle programs currently: electrification, driver assist, anything AI based, certain services etc. Don't hang out at ICE powertrain and such things anymore. Being at the right place is more important than attempting to be likeable. You could otherwise try to move within the company. Look for a posting, contact the LL6 of that team for a chat, see if it could fit for both and then maybe try to make the move.

It should be clear by now that there is NOTHING you can do to keep your job. The execs and BF have spent the company into oblivion. We are in desperate shape and have been for a while but Ford continued to blow money on vanity construction projects and hiring tons more of senior staff and then breaking the company into 3 and looking to triplicate number of mgt and staff. Leadership is literally driving the company into the ground.
