I know several people who happily left IBM in the last few years for startups. They got better pay and benefits, and most of them were happy with the culture they landed in. Two of them have been laid off in the last few months and another one believes it's just a matter of time before he is out as well. This just goes to show that when it comes to job security, there is no safe option.

At least at a startup you can learn more and gain skills that make it easier to find a new job. When interviewing other companies don’t even know that IBM has a cloud platform and that’s supposed to be IBM’s saving grace
So be underpaid and miserable at IBM until they lay you off. Or be better compensated and less miserable somewhere else until they lay you off. Hmm....
Sounds like an HR troll.
