Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco in a bidding war with Broadcom over acquisition of VMware?

There is a thread https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1gTCBxF7 or @OP+1gTCBxF7 on this on VMware's site. Not sure if this is for real or not but a rumor is there. I think VMware makes more sense for Broadcom, but not sure how things will play out. We are sitting on a big pile of cash, so this move may be better thank keeping the $$$ in the bank.

Chipmaker Broadcom to buy VMware in massive $61 billion deal. Cisco is too broke to even come up with $25 billions.

This is as much of a bs rumor as any other that has been repeated way too much by way to many that know way too little. A) Cisco wouldn't know what to do with it. B) Customers would look for anything else knowing the great software clowns in bangalore will eff up anything that half way works. C) Same people were probably spouting off the same garbage about nortel buying cisco or the other way around. Of course mm, chuckie boy, and fran haven't gotten any smarter so I guess the opportunity to make some more ignorant decisions are still there but there has been zero rumor internally that has any credibility.

From Bloomberg:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-05-23/dell-becomes-billionaire-kingmaker-in-broadcom-vmware-deal
"There may also be the chance of rival offers for VMware tempting Dell to hold out. “We believe VMware could attract interest from other suitors pursuing software such as Cisco,” said Jin Ho."
