Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

I hope it's over with layoffs for now

As far as I know, finance was hit. Given that the atmosphere is very tense, I hope this is not a sign that there could be more layoffs.
I really care about keeping my job and knowing that it's out of my control leaves me feeling pretty desperate. Does anyone have more info on whether there will be more cuts soon?

Layoffs used to be in the late fall early winter, in anticipation of year close. Now they happen a lot more frequently, and seem more closely tied to reporting periods. If you're in a higher cost destination, eventually layoffs will catch up with you.

Blessing in disguise some people may get help when they are RIF’d , but not all. I was never offered any. The way I and some of my colleagues were laid off would make the Keystone cops look like professionals. We were laid off for greater efficiency gains. What a joke. If you call less customer updates and a significant lowering off editorial standards greater efficiency and better customer service, then they must be on another planet.

Traditionally there are only layoffs in late fall/early winter, so I wouldn’t be as concerned right now. Plus you get severance and help finding a new role. Of course it would be hard, but many people have shared on this site they are happier after their lay off.

Look at last year, there were 3 or 4 rounds that started this same time. November, right before thanksgiving is the last round and usually impacts mainly sales/gtm individuals.

This is just the first round. There are more planned for the November timeframe.
