Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

ELT has become a Hedge Fund Org

Sorry to say this, current ELT is one of the worst group not only in Cisco but I would say in the whole IT industry. ELT has become a Hedge Fund Org - they manage every quarter by acquiring other companies, asking to take mandatory PTOs, asking to book Cisco Live US or IMPACT after Q3/4, selling exiting real estate, hiring G6-8 to back fill G11/12 domain experts, outsourcing L1 support, limiting travel to only senior mgmt ....etc etc etc.. Its all about managing the quarterly EPS. It is a painful fact that the ELT doesn't works for Cisco - they work for themself :-( . Their main part of the compensation is in stocks so their all efforts to manage the stock price.... They will sell the stocks in next few years and move to other org as an executive member. Even Chuck, MM all will move in few years. Why they should worry to build a strong engineering company? They work in Cisco to make money and they can do easily by managing the stock. Its all business for them and we fools things that it is all about their love for Cisco.

Perfectly said, @3zeu+1gVBsmYm.

Cisco has been a sales company ever since Chambers took over in 1995. It might have been an engineering company before then but not since.

It's all about recurring revenue today, the land of the non-innovators. Let's squeeze customers every few years for subscriptions in addition to making them pay for TAC support to fix buggy software. Oh yeah but let's also outsource the TAC support to places and penalise them for referring difficult cases to backbone TAC because the outsource TACs don't have the technical depth to handle anything that case automation can't hand to them.

I also love MM's play to make CX delivery folks ersatz SE's where they don't have to pay a commission. So let's get customers to pay for delivery folks who turn around and try to sell stuff to the customer. Get the customer to pay for a sales pitch. Brilliant! I still can't believe what Cisco paid to hire MM.

"How do I get a piece of that multimillion dollar pie?"

  • Are you skilled at sending jobs to India?
  • Or quietly converting full-time jobs to temp jobs?
  • Any expertise in convincing employees to work for a company that issues tiny stock grants?

You nailed it! They are destroying this company. They are just managing the bottom line since they don’t have the knowledge or skill to grow revenue. It’s sad indeed.

It's called a managed decline. We sell & market legacy network equipment, the ELT is trying to just keep the stock afloat until they retire.
