I'm just too scared to do it. Other major banks all have the same issues we have and while they might be better, it's not that easy to get a job at smaller banks, even now. I'm not sure how to get myself to take that step. In all honesty, being laid off with severance doesn't sound that bad to me right now.

So grateful to be working for USB. I managed to be part of the company for 30 plus years with no college degree. Great benefits for me and my family, 401k plus two pensions, 5 weeks of paid vacations, 6 paid sick days every year and 11 bank holidays paid each year and off on weekends.
No harm in looking. Worst that happens is nothing and you remain status quo. Maybe you get laid off but you’ve got “irons in the fire” and maybe one of them pans out AND it overlaps with severance. Nothing hurt in looking! Interviewing takes practice - time to get those reps in.
Never quit until you have another job. Put that nervous energy into planning your escape from USB prison. USB managers are constantly berated and under the g-n. They pass that negativity on to their employees. You are so much better than they let you know...trust in yourself and find an employer who will appreciate you instead of keeping you down.
Update your resume and post it on-line. What's the worst that can happen?
My friend gets mad all the time… applies to other companies.. she said she had 5 call backs? Look around. Weigh you options. Benefits here seem great tho. I’m at 4 weeks vacation.
All it takes is one proactive step to start feeling like it's possible, and it is. Take that call from a recruiter, update your resume, try applying for a job that interests you. Might work out, might not, but sometimes kick starting that forward momentum is all you need to do to gain confidence. You only get one life, it's too precious to waste waiting and feeling how you feel, allow yourself to be in charge of your own destiny!! I wish you luck.
