Merit Increase Pause?

My other half sent me a picture of a question asked at the GSC town hall yesterday.

It was along the lines of promotions being on hold for CL 24/25's effectively freezing merit Increases for those in that band for 5 years.

Kathy never confirmed or denied it. What say you?

With record profits coming this year anything short of a double digit percentage increase will cause an even larger attrition issue when you consider our salaries 2 years ago are now worth significantly less today (inflation adjusted).

For the love of God can every forum and town hall stop force feeding the low carbon business. We're not seeing any profit from that business in a best case scenario, 10 years. We don't even know how we're going to monetize it.

After going 2 years without a promotion, when I was scheduled to get a CL bump in mid-late 2020 and didn’t get it. And my manager didn’t seem to know why. I knew it was time to GTFO.
If you hit 5 years. Cash out that pension and Irish goodbye that sh-t.

Anecdotally, 4 young high performers in my group who are CL25 were out in for promotions in December. None were approved.

The question was about CL 24/25 not getting timely increases and effectively being frozen, not whether the company is actually freezing CL 24/25s. To their credit, the answer from SG and KM was that they recognize there are cases where this happens and we need to follow our own guidelines for advancing people's careers.

Wait what? No promotions for 24/25? Why specifically those bands? Why 5 years? Wouldn’t it make sense to limit the upper tiers? The jump from 24 to 25 or 25 to 26 is chump change compared to a tier 2 or tier 1 jump.

Sounds made up to me. Plus plenty of folks got bumps in that band in January.
